I’m so thrilled to reveal next retreat location. It will take place in the countryside of Southern France. A region at the foothills of the Pyrenees, surrounded by vineyards, castles and medieval towns. Our stay is a hidden and quiet place, away from the usual touristic trail, yet still easily accessible. Keep on reading and I’ll take you through experiences I have planned for our time together in the South of France.
This time you’re invited to retreat into a tranquil, luxurious and charming residence in rural surroundings of southern France. Domaine de Mournac is an idyllic place that’s simply perfect for yoga, meditation and contemplative practices. You’ll find everything you need here to have a relaxing, meaningful and simply ideal country escape. The 14th Century residence is stone coach house lovingly refurbished in 2017 by London runaways, Jon and Lucy.
Nestled among vineyards and hills at the foothills of the Pyrenees, Domaine de Mournac offers a blissfuly comfortable stay in a serene location with a fully equipped yoga studio: mats, blocks, belts, bolsters and blankets are at your disposal so you can travel light. The yoga space features a large floor to ceiling accordion window that dissolves the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces so you can enjoy the fresh air and expansive mountain views.
And if the magnificent scenery wasn’t enough, you’ll also be spoiled by our retreat chefs who specialise in vegetarian meals prepared with seasonal and local produce. As part of the French cultural experience the evening meal will be paired with wines from the region.
The retreat will maintain an intimate feel, with our group size limited to 15 participants. There will be time to share many moments together and also to connect with yourself.
This yoga retreat is lead by me - Marta. Over the years, yoga has become an integral part of my life. I have a strong background in both technical and therapeutic aspects of yoga and meditation, and I’ve been sharing my passion for it through teaching for over ten years. When I’m not teaching, I love to go for long walks in the forest, hike up steep hills, or simply let myself float in a crystal clear lake. Feel free to read more about my path.
This retreat is designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Each morning we’ll observe silence until breakfast to encourage a mindful presence right from the early waking hours. We’ll first sit together for meditation and then invite mindful movement through the practice of yoga. You’ll take time for yourself, going quietly through your morning routine and then meet us again to share a delicious breakfast and break the silence.
On one of the days, we’ll expand the concept of silence to include the entire day. This will give you an ample space and time to really experience retreating into yourself and enjoying those rare moments of contemplative practice where you’re mindful of each step, each bite and each breath.
During the day, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the surroundings, relax at the pool, swim, hike or enjoy a good book. In the afternoons, we’ll meet again for workshops and meditation. As the day comes to an end, we’ll share a nourishing meal together and admire the sunset over the French countryside surrounded by scent of blooming lavender. In the evenings you’re welcome to enjoy each others’ presence or retreat to a quiet place and relish some restful time with yourself.
Our location is 45 minutes from Carcassonne airport and 1.5 hours from Toulouse airport. The easiest way to get there is by taking an airport transfer. I can assist you with booking and coordinating sharing of the transfer. The cost of a shared transfer is around 40€ from Toulouse and 25€ from Carcassonne per person each way. If you prefer, you can also rent a car and share the ride with other retreat participants. You’ll be able to coordinate car-pooling and communicate with each other via a web based platform. Further instructions upon registration. It’s also possible to arrive by train and bus, you can take it all the way to Couiza and then cover the final 4km by taxi.
